You Can Work From Home

You know the grind.

Get up, let the dogs out, take a shower, get dressed, paint your face, get the kids up, get them dressed, feed the kids, feed the dogs, pack your bags, kiss your husband and head out the door in 1.5 hours flat!

It’s a very stressful start to the day.

And it doesn’t end there…

The traffic jam.  The irritating co-workers and the bossy boss. Deadlines, meetings, computer issues!

Pick up the kids, the traffic jam, cook dinner, finish homework, do the dishes, make lunches and pack bags for tomorrow, bathe the kids, read bedtime stories and crash into your own bed.

5 Days a Week! What kind of life is that?

What if you could enjoy your coffee, walk your kids to school with the dog, work from a home office, walk your kids home, bake some cookies, enjoy dinner & even homework.

But how do you start?

Don’t get too overwhelmed when you’re no longer happy with your job. Calm yourself and think. Plan your way to working from home. Its a big leap but lots of people do it every day and you can too.  And yes, It is possible to make money now.

The company that I work for is listed as #15 out of the top 100 Network Marketing Companies of 2019. More about that later….

1 -Don’t quit your job too soon!

I have seen this before where someone gets fired up and act fast. My suggestion is don’t quit your job too soon. You can start a home-based business in an afternoon, and with little comparative cost outlay.

Opening a storefront or traditional business will require much more planning, far more expense, and way more time. The risks with traditional businesses are often far greater than what home-based networkers and entrepreneurs will experience.

Just like any business can grow and thrive, a networking program can too. I know many successful marketers. Some of the things they bring to their home-based business are the same things any business owner brings to theirs.

Three key attributes of any successful network marketer that I know:

  1. Matched with a product or service that they identify with.
  2. Unwavering commitment, and not just to their own success, but to building success in others (team building).
  3. Able to manage their own time (there are no short cuts, and no get rich quick loopholes, just hard work).

Once you decide on a company you need to commit to a daily plan and routine and a “Daily Method of Operation”.

2 – Get up, get dressed, and “go” to work

Just because you work from home doesn’t mean you get to spend the day in your jammies. Pajamas for me signals rest and relaxation and you really have to understand how this plays into your subconsciousness.  The same routine should start your day whether you work from home or work in an office building. Get up, get dressed and “go” to work. There is no need for dresses or suits and ties but skip the pajamas and sweats.

3 – Have a clean, work-specific area

Remember my comfy seat on the couch? I love it, but it’s not productive.  My body is in an uncomfortable position and I end up with more aches and pains after sitting there for a few hours.   I’ve tried the kitchen island and the dining room table. Nothing is as productive as a dedicated office space.

A clean desk, a large computer screen, a nice desk chair, and a door that closes means I can focus. When I’m sitting there I know my goal is to work and I don’t feel guilty for doing it. I know that I get more done, quickly, so I can get back to spending time with the people I love.  Plus it signals to the family that I am “working”.

4 – Set a real work schedule and stick to it

If you have ever worked from home, you know saying, “I need to work on this project for 3 hours at some point today,” either leaves you up working at 10 pm or pushing your project off until tomorrow.  Set a real-time when you are, “at the office.” Fit everything else around that schedule the same way you would if you went to a physical office.

By designating specific hours, you signal to your brain you have a deadline. Having work hours is, in essence, like setting a timer for yourself. Your brain translates the end of the workday as a deadline, and that makes it more likely that you will work quickly and get your work done.

5 – Limit distractions and practice focus

Create a second login for your computer.  You know the “login as guest” option on your computer? Create another account for your working from home profile.  This way I can remove all social networks from my toolbar bookmarks. Even if I don't mean to browse them, some uncontrollable impulse subconsciously clicks on them when I experience downtime. You can get sucked in without knowing it -- and you know you can an hour can go by so fast when you just wanted to reply to your friend Jane real quick.

So, I eliminated that gateway to those networks and it definitely helps keeps me on track."Another good practice is to set small goals. Turn off notifications on your phone and computer, put headphones on with music that helps you focus and set a timer for a small task. You can do this!

6 – Your daily method of operation.

When I first started one of my biggest hurdles was figuring out what to do and when.  Time management, in the beginning, is so important. Either you’ve started this business in your spare time to work at it so it becomes a true full-time income and you can quit your job, or you’ve started this as a stay at home mom or dad and your window of opportunity (naptime) is so short you have to be super productive.  For me, it was building my business in my spare time.

So, I wrote down on a sticky the 10 steps I had to accomplish every day. Create a blog post. Create a Pinterest pin for the blog post. Link to the website. Share to Facebook. Email my team. Email new leads. Email/call leads that require 2nd or 3rd follow-ups. Etc. Once I did this daily method of operation day after day, remembering the steps was easier and I was able to add more steps to make my business more successful.

7 - Be off the clock when you’re off the clock

One of the most difficult things about working from home is setting up boundaries, especially if you’re building a business. designating specific work hours is a must. This prevents work from creeping into your family time, and family time into work time.  I have a set schedule weekly that includes 1 late night a week to reach out to team members or new customers and a few hours on Saturday --again to reach out to team members or new customers that can’t schedule phone conversations during their workday.

Flexibility in your work hours is one of the perks of working from home, but you manage it accordingly in order to be the most productive entrepreneur and the most involved mom or dad. It is totally possible, it just takes boundaries. Treating your work as a business is the difference between a hobby and a profitable endeavor.

Now you’re ready to choose your company!

Here is a little about mine, but you can use the same formula to pick a company you're interested in.  YOU MUST believe in the company and the product in order to sell it!

3. Is the Product or Service Trendy or a Fad?

You can't build a long-term residual income if the product or service only has short-term appeal. Always think long term. Enagic celebrated its 45th year last June as a specialized manufacturer of high-quality water ionizer generating systems.

Today Enagic's pledge to realize a revolution in True Health - in the form of physical health, economic health, and mental health - is supported by thousands of people around the world.

It doesn't have to be this way!
